Jewish DNA Testing is new genetic technology being used to discover
family history and ancestral origin. Commonly, Jewish DNA is found in the
J and E
Haplogroups
which are typical of the Middle East. At the same time, there are traces of
European and Khazar ancestry among European Jews.

All
existing studies fail to compare modern Jewish populations' DNA to ancient
Judean DNA and Khazarian DNA, but in the absence of old DNA, comparisons with
living populations appear to be adequate to trace geographic roots.
Y Chromosome Testing - This can be testing by the males only, Y
chromosome are only passed father to son (paternally). To get the most
thorough reading there is the maximum of 67 markers to analyze. The only
website with that test available is Family Tree DNA.
Mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) Testing - This is passed through
maternally,
both the son and daughter get their mother's mtDNA, the daughter is the only one
who passes it. Though both male and female can be tested for their mtDNA.
