Mitochondrial Eve

You and I are related through Mitochondrial Eve, thus related to each other. Not many people are aware that this connection does exist, after all, this is very new science.

Mitochondrial Eve is the name given by researchers to a female fossil that is about 140,000 years old. Found near Kenya, Africa Eve has been observed as having the same DNA as everyone on the planet. Throughout time DNA has mutated and other strands have formed. This is all the changing in DNA that separates us now.

One research showed that Eve could have been around only 6,500 year ago. This would be impossible because of the time and place things have occurred, though what it does tell us is that Mitochondrial DNA doesn't have a consistency in it's mutation rate.

Eve is known as the Most Recent Common Ancestor (MRCA) maternally.

Eve does have a counterpart. Adam Y chromosomal, a name also given by researchers, was estimated to be alive about 60,000 years ago. This fossil, also found near Kenya, Africa was observed as the paternal MRCA.
