Seven Daughters of Eve

"The Seven Daughters of Eve" was coined by Bryan Sykes that wrote a book explaining the connection between genetics and Mitochondrial DNA. He observed there are 7 major "clan mothers" for European lineage. He has also given names for the maternal common ancestors for 29 other lineages in the world, including 9 "clan mothers" in Japan alone.

Bryan Sykes book is a great introduction to the world of DNA science, especially Mitochondrial DNA. The Seven Daughters of Eve: The Science That Reveals Our Genetic Ancestry
